Included with this Option A is a patent license. With the exercise of Option A, The English Licensor grants to the Japanese Licensee an option to a worldwide, non-exclusive license, to manufacture, have manufactured, use, and sell Products under the Licensors Background Dendrimer Intellectual Property on the terms set out in the Patent License for Dendrimer Materials.
With the exercise of this Option A, the Licensor grants to Licensee a non-exclusive license to use the Licensors Background Dendrimer Intellectual Property to manufacture, have manufactured, use and sell Products in any and all countries of the world.

Licensor grants a non exclusive, non-sublicensable license to use the Licensor Jointly Owned Intellectual Property upon and subject to the provisions of this Agreement, to develop, make, have made, sell, use, export, import and distribute Products for display and lighting applications in any and all countries of the world.

Our P-OLED technology has the potential to drive OLED adoption by significantly lowering the cost of producing OLED displays. P-OLED materials are solution processable, which enables them to be deposited on panels using processes such as high precision ink jet printing.
P-OLED materials can form stable solutions in organic solvents, making inks which can be deposited in pixel patterns using ink-jet and other printing techniques. Low-cost spin-coating is also available for monochrome or area color displays.
P-OLEDs are part of the family of Organic Light Emitting Diodes, or OLEDs, which are matrixes of organic diodes that emit light when an electric current flows. OLEDs are thin, lightweight and power efficient devices used in flat panel displays, or FPDs, and other applications. P-OLEDs offer an enhanced visual experience compared with alternative FPD technologies, such as liquid crystal displays, or LCD.

Licensor grants the Licensee an option to extend the License to include certain patented technology concerning ink-jet printing as relevant to LEP Devices being jointly developed by Licensor and a Third Party as well as certain background patented technology concerning ink-jet printing as relevant to LEP Devices and owned by Third Party to which Licensor has sublicensing rights.

The LEP Device means an electronic display device in which light is generated by a LEP Material to produce a visible representation and comprising Cell, a Passive Matrix Module or an Active Matrix Module as the case may be.
The LEP Material means an organic semiconductive conjugated polymer or copolymer having at least five(5) of one or more repeating units in the polymer backbone, wherein, upon application of an electric field, light emission occurs from any portion of the polymer backbone.

Device IP shall mean any intellectual property relating to a display device utilizing the LEP Polymer and applications of the LEP Polymer.
Licensed Product shall mean the LEP Polymer manufactured by Licensee or its Affiliate by using any of the Licensed Patents and ink or formulation which contains such LEP Polymer and is manufactured by Licensee or its Affiliate.
Polymer IP shall mean any intellectual property relating to the LEP Polymer, composition comprising the LEP Polymer, methods of making the LEP Polymer or such composition and methods of improving properties of the LEP Polymer or such composition.
Polyfluorenes shall mean polymers comprising optionally substituted 2,7-linked fluorene repeat units.

to make or manufacture LEP Devices (but not LEP);

LEP Device means an electronic device (of viewable diagonal dimension of 10 inches or more) in which light is generated by a LEP to produce a visible representation, which device is covered by one or more claims of the Licensed Patents.
LEP means light emitting polymer material.
Licensed Patents means all Patents that Licensor Group exclusively owns or jointly owns or shall so own and/or Licensor has or shall have sublicense rights and is generally free to license without any payment to a third party, filed prior to or after the Effective Date which are related to LEP Device architecture and/or manufacture and/or driving schemes for such LEP Devices and in the case of such driving schemes, those which are implemented directly on the LEP Device panel (including but not limited to those schemes utilising organic TFTs) but expressly excluding those Patents that are directed to driving schemes (or algorithms) which are implemented off the LEP Device panel (for the avoidance of any doubt, the Licensed Patents include Patents which are related to driving circuitry used in the Dispay Module).

(a)

Electroluminescent Polymer means any material deposited by solution processing that is electroluminescent and where at least one ingredient is a polymer.
LEP Device means an electronic device (which device is covered by one or more Valid Claim) in which light is generated by LEP to produce (i) a visible representation comprising Glass, a Passive Matrix Module or an Active Matrix Module, as the case may be, and (ii) backlighting to, and solely to the extent the same is necessary for, such visible representation (but excluding any lighting device intended for use primarily as a source of area illumination), which devices may be driven by a TMA Driver Chip and shall be of any resolution and shall have a viewable diagonal dimension which is either (a) equal to or in excess of Ten (10') inches, or (b) equal to less than Twenty Seven (27') inches, whichever the Licensee shall have elected prior to entering into Commercial Production, by serving prior written election on CDT in accordance with this agreement.
TMA means Total Matrix Addressing.
Patent means the patents and patent applications listed; all future patents and patent applications that may be filed by or on behalf of Licesor or a Licensor Group member which are related to LEP display architecture and/or manufacture and which Licensor or a Licensor Group member exclusively owns or jointly owns, has an unrestricted right and ability to grant licenses thereto and such right to grant licences is not conditional upon Licensor or a Licensor Group member making any form of payment or other form of compensation to any relevant third party; and any extension of any such patent and any patent obtained in pursuance of any such application.

Finished Product means any article (whether or not complete) produced by or for the Licensee or any member of the Licensee’s Group which incorporates an LEP Device and additional components.
Total Matrix Addressing Driver Chips means row and column driver chips interfacing with either a separate or integrated processor chip capable of running any non-negative matrix factorisation algorithm (or any other algorithm that gives positive values) such that the said row and column driver chips can drive more than one row and column at a time within one subframe. (“TMA Driver Chips†shall be construed accordingly). Total Matrix Addressing is a a form of passive matrix driving where more than one row is addressed at a time, resulting in reduced power consumption and extended panel lifetime.
