Microdisplays are an emerging display technology based on very small display panels that are magnified or projected through the use of optics. The microdisplays use the Licensor's proprietary ferroelectric liquid crystal on silicon, or FLCOS, technology, which offers an image quality in the viewfinder of digital still cameras and video camcorders that is superior to other available electronic viewfinders. Licensor grants the Licensee an option to extend the License to include certain patented technology concerning ink-jet printing as relevant to LEP Devices being jointly developed by Licensor and a Third Party as well as certain background patented technology concerning ink-jet printing as relevant to LEP Devices and owned by Third Party to which Licensor has sublicensing rights.

Licensor grants Licensee the option to extend the scope of the License by the addition of Royalty.Bearing Patent Rights, provided the Licensee makes such payment or compensation to Licensor on a full reimbursement basis.

Licensor grants Licensee a license under Patents to make and have made LEP Material and other Component Materials for research purposes only.

License Property
The Relevant Technology means the patents and patent applications, to the extent that such patents and patent applications are directed to LEP Device architecture and/or LEP Device manufacture.

The Component Materials means materials incorporated in LEP Device or Finished Product, including but not limited to those that make up substrate, electrodes, transport layer, LEP Material supporting layer, encapsulant.

The Patents include Visible LEDs, Bilayer Composite Electrode, Polymer Grid Triodes and Arrays, PLEDs , Polyfluorene as Materials for Photoluminescence and Electroluminescence, Hybrid Light-Emitting Sources, Electrically Active Polymer Compositions, Ultrathin Layer Alkaline Earth Metals, and Encapsulation of Polymer Based Solid State Devices with Inorganic Materials.

The LEP Device means an electronic display device in which light is generated by a LEP Material to produce a visible representation and comprising Cell, a Passive Matrix Module or an Active Matrix Module as the case may be.

The LEP Material means an organic semiconductive conjugated polymer or copolymer having at least five(5) of one or more repeating units in the polymer backbone, wherein, upon application of an electric field, light emission occurs from any portion of the polymer backbone.
