License Grant
Licensor grants to The United Kingdom Licensee an exclusive, worldwide license to use the Licensor Technology for all activities relating to
– the manufacture of Phytase by a third party solely for sale to Licensee
– the use and sale of Phytase for the manufacture of Products for the Animal Health Field and Animal Nutrition Field; .and
– the manufacture, use and sale of Products for the Animal Health Field and Animal Nutrition Field.

The Products shall mean products containing Phytase.  Phytase shall mean an enzyme from E. Coli B strain ATCC #11303 that hydrolyzes phytic acid and which is manufactured under the licenses granted by this License Agreement.

When novel phytase enzyme is used as an additive in animal feed applications allows higher utilization of phytic acid phosphates from the feed, thereby increasing its nutritional value. The addition of phytase to animal feed reduces the need for inorganic phosphorus supplementation and lowers the level of harmful phosphates that are introduced to the environment through animal waste, resulting in inorganic phosphate cost savings and a significant reduction in environmental pollution.

Field of Use
The field of use is for animal health and nutrition.  The Animal Health field shall mean a field of activities relating to products which directly or indirectly enhance an animals nutrition, growth, health or well-being and which customarily require a veterinarians prescription in the United States.   The Animal Nutrition field shall mean a field of activities relating to products which directly or indirectly enhance an animals nutrition, growth, health or well-being and which customarily do not require a veterinarians prescription in the United States.
